Our club runs on the power of volunteers! There are no paid staff. Volunteering a great way to help the club function, keep dues and event fees low and to make and grow friendships with fellow club members. Please volunteer as often as you can, every little bit helps!
Donations are another way to contribute to the club. Bar sponsors and silent auction basket gifts are needed for dinner dances. A very generous donation is making it possible to have the club professionally cleaned every month!

Volunteers needed for special events and committees are advertised in the Yacht Yarn and club emails. Please reach out to any Board member with your offer of assistance!
SVYC organizes quarterly cleanups along the Intracoastal Waterway. We also participate in cleanups organized by the Suncoast Reef Rovers and Ocean Conservancy/ Keep Sarasota County Beautiful. Upcoming cleanups are announced on the Social Activities page & in Upcoming Events emails.
SVYC maintains a small mangrove nursery, planting mangrove "beans" in clean food cans, then transplanting the mangrove sprouts in open spaces in the mangroves along the shores of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Silent Auction Gift Baskets - Organize donated items & gift cards into attractive baskets for the Silent Auction
Dinner Dance Decorating & Setup - Help to decorate the hall & tables
Dinner Dance Cleanup - Put decorations away, wipe tables, clean the floor, remove trash & recycling. Also needed after German Club.

Bar Sponsors donate $100 (or any amount!) to offset bar costs. Use the Payment Portal and include "Bar Sponsor" in the comment field, or put a check in the white box in the hallway. Donations of soda, water, beer, wine & liquor also accepted.

Maintenance (Monday Morning Maintenance) - Trim trees & shrubs, weed the front anchor feature, fire ant control, kayak rack & dock maintenance, painting & minor repairs to electrical, plumbing, lighting
Water System - check chlorine levels, refill chlorine dispenser tank (training provided)
Bulletin Board - update bulletin board in clubhouse twice a month
Announcements- design announcements for club events using Google sheets
Event Photography - Take event photos and upload into Google photo albums
Sound & Video Systems - As needed set up sound and video conference systems for club functions and meetings.
