About Club Service
About Club Service
Our club runs on the power of volunteers! There are no paid staff. Volunteering a great way to help the club function, keep dues and event fees low and to make and grow friendships with fellow club members. Please volunteer as often as you can, every little bit helps!
Donations are another way to contribute to the club. Bar and Band sponsors and silent auction basket gifts are needed for dinner dances and brunches.
Regularly scheduled club service opportunities for Dinner Dances and Building and Grounds are shown on the club calendar HERE.
Volunteers needed for special events and committees are advertised in the Yacht Yarn and club emails. Please reach out to any Board member to offer your assistance!

Dinner Dances & Brunches
Dinner Dance Decorating & Setup - Help to set up and decorate the hall. Generally takes 1 hour. Contact Decorating Coordinator Cathy G HERE
All-Volunteer Kitchen - The day before an event, arrive at 11 AM to help prep for the meal on the following day, including washing and chopping fresh vegetables, light cooking, assembling menu items. Generally takes 1.5 hours Contact our Caterer, Cathy C HERE
Dinner Dance Cleanup - Put decorations away, wipe tables, clean the floor, remove trash & recycling. Also needed after German Club. Contact Vice Commodore Judy HERE

Bar Sponsors donate $100 (or any amount!) to offset bar costs. Donations of soda, water, beer, wine & liquor are also welcome!

Maintenance (Monday Morning Maintenance) - Every other week, come out to help with weeding and trimming, fire ant control, kayak rack & dock maintenance, painting & minor building repairs.
Water System - check chlorine levels, refill chlorine dispenser tank (training provided)

Committee member- Join the activities committee to help plan activities. Meet once a month to plan.
Planning - plan free or low cost activities (e.g., potluck & dance, card making class, ice cream social, educational presentation, group outing to a restaurant, play or show). Any chance to get together and have fun is appreciated!
Lead an Event - lead the organization of volunteers and budget for an event. With input from your team, decide on pricing, decorations, menu, activities, music. Recruit and lead your team of volunteers to carry out the event. Work with the Vice Commodore and Social Activities chair to incorporate the event into the SVYC calendar. This is your chance to use your skills as an event planner!
